Bow the Knee, by Various Artists

I remember when I first joined choir. It was a homeschool choir for Christians. It was after I went through a difficult time with my best friend. We were no longer speaking and everything in my life was different. I was hurt, angry, and barely holding on. My anger rested mostly with myself. I couldn't get past the fact that I had lost the one person I thought I could count on through anything in my life. I tried to find the answers, but I couldn't see them. Every day was difficult to go through and I excluded God from a lot of my life.

Music was the one thing that I could rely on, but even then, it was not enough. I lost all passion and joy for something that I loved. I wanted to give up on everything. My mom tried to help me and put me in choir. I slowly started to get back the love that I had once felt for music. In the spring of that year, we sang this song. The lyrics were hard for me to swallow at first because I had done the opposite of this song. I fought so hard with what it was saying and what I should do. Eventually, I found comfort and peace in this song, something that had been rare for me to find.

I hope you find peace and comfort in this song too. No matter what you're going through, there is hope for tomorrow and a God who loves us.

Bow the Knee: Various Artists

There are moments on our journey following the Lord
Where God illumines ev’ry step we take.
There are times when circumstances make perfect sense to us,
As we try to understand each move He makes.
When the path grows dim and our questions have no answers, turn to Him.

Bow the knee;
Trust the heart of your Father when the answer goes beyond what you can see.
Bow the knee;
Lift your eyes toward heaven and believe the One who holds eternity.
And when you don’t understand the purpose of His plan,
In the presence of the King, bow the knee.

There are days when clouds surround us, and the rain begins to fall,
The cold and lonely winds won’t cease to blow.
And there seems to be no reason for the suffering we feel;
We are tempted to believe God does not know.
When the storms arise, don’t forget we live by faith and not by sight.

Bow the knee;
Trust the heart of your Father when the answer goes beyond what you can see.
Bow the knee;
Lift your eyes toward heaven and believe the One who holds eternity.
And when you don’t understand the purpose of His plan,
In the presence of the King, bow the knee.
